The Pastor's Corner
“What is Faith?”
A friend of mine posed
this question recently (“What is faith?”) and I was ready to give him a
seminary-prepared cliché pastoral answer. Before I had a chance to give
him this canned response, he asked, “Do you have to have faith “in”
something or can you just have faith?”

FIRST POVERTY/HUNGER INITIATIVE
GRANT RECEIVED
We have received our first request for a Poverty Initiative
Grant from St. Andrews Church in Beulah. The county has been
suffering through the challenges of unemployment and
foreclosures. The church is partnering with a congregation in
Illinois. This church has a group of 20 to 30 volunteers who
are skilled and experienced in home repairs. The group will
join with volunteers from St. Andrews to do needed home repairs
for families needing assistance. The work team is in the
process of identifying 10 to 12 home owners who qualify through
the local human service agencies for such assistance. The funds
from the presbytery grant will be used to purchase materials and
supplies that will be required for the project.
Other
congregations in the presbytery are encouraged to develop
mission projects, which target those caught in the economic
downturn.
